Volume in slipcase. Precious full red leather binding with titles and very rich gold friezes on the spine with 5 raised bands, elegant framing with gold fillets on the plates, backplates framed by leather margins with elaborate gilded friezes, in excellent condition: slight peeling on the caps. Case covered with marbled paper in good condition: peeling on the edges and on the upper and lower cuts. Gilded cuts with traces of dust. Portrait applied on frontispiece partially unglued. Papers well preserved, slightly browned, with rare foxing. Texte en Français

Elegant editions of the poetic works of Nicolas Boileau Despréaux (1636-1711): the volume presents the Discours au Roi, Satires, Epitres, L'art poétique and Le lutrin. Each work is preceded by a notice and a finely etched cartoon by Joseph-François Foulquier (1744-1789). Portrait of the author applied on frontispiece. At the Colophon: Tirage des exemplaires numérotés: 270 sur papier vergé; 10 on chamois paper; 20 on paper de Chine; 1 sur peau de vélin. Example no. 9.
